    BIO5 faculty members Tracy Brooks, Felicia Goodrum and Joyce Schroeder are among the 60 finalists selected from a pool of 220 nominations for Tucson’s “40 under 40.”  The recognizes young Tucson leaders for the achievements and contributions they have made to their profession.

    Donna Wolk, PhD, Director of the Infectious Disease Research Core and BIO5 member, has been named as a finalist for its “Award for Research Excellence” by AZBio. The winner will be announced at the 2009 AZBio Awards Dinner the evening of September 24th at the Arizona Grand Resort in Phoenix.
     
    AZBio awards this honor to the life science researcher in Arizona who has made the most significant contribution to the advancement of knowledge and the understanding of biological processes, as measured by publications and/or professional acknowledgement of their work in either an academic or commercial setting.
     
    Wolk was nominated by BIO5 for her research on infectious diseases.
     
  • Leslie Boyer, BIO5 member, medical director of the Arizona Poison and Drug Information Center, and director of the VIPER (Venom Immunochemistry, Pharmacology and Emergency Response) Institute in the College of Medicine, is a finalist in the Innovation in Academia category of the 2009 Governor’s Celebration of Innovation awards presented by the Arizona Technology Council in partners

  •  Reporters with the Arizona Public Media's  KUAT Channel 6 have recieved Emmy nominations for "WaveLengths", a science magazine hosted by BIO5 member Vicki Chandler.
